Assignment 7A - Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1
1. The opportunity I choose is the need for a faster delivery service in the town.
2. The who: people in Gainesville that needs a food delivery service when at home or at the workplace.
The what: Food delivery is too low sometimes.
The why: Too many orders in the peak hours.
3. Testing the who: Yes. My online game friends always need a food delivery service when they at home. Additionally, when some people have to prepare exams at home they also need the service. Furthermore, people in workplaces need the service when they are too busy handling the work.
Testing the what: During the peak hours, there are too many orders that the limited number of drivers cannot make it quick enough to deliver the foods.
Testing the why: Sometimes consumers call the restaurant asking why the delivery is so slow. They always get the answer that food is already on its way, but the driver has to deliver many other foods before he goes to their places.
Interview 1: My online friend Josh always orders food delivery service at home. He already gets used to the delivery speed and said he always has prepared that the food would come late. He said he would be willing to pay extra dollars for faster delivery.
Interview 2: My neighbor Max only has ordered food delivery few times. He ordered it because he was busy at his exam. He complained that the food came so late that he ate some bread before the food arrived. He was even not hungry anymore when the food arrived. Now he is still using it, but prefer to go buy food by himself rather than paying extra money for it.
Interview 3: My roommate Jimmy only ordered once food delivery in town. He said he would never order it again because his food was cold when it arrived.
Interview 4: A UF student I met in Reitz Union said she sometimes order Dominos and it was faster. She didn't know about other food delivery websites.
Interview 5: My Chinese friend Bowen. She is always too lazy to go outside and always order food delivery. She said although the food comes too slow, she is fine with the waiting time because she never plans to eat on time. She is willing to pay an extra fee for the food if she is too hungry.
Summary:
I think the need for a faster delivery is not a daily needs but only in some specific situations. Most people who complain about the slow delivery is because they are hungry. For those who always use the delivery service, they don't really mind about the speed because they just don't want to go outside and have known the delivery would be slow. For those who only use the service when they are hungry or busy, I think a faster delivery is really important.
